6th grade students studied Medieval era art and architecture, focusing on the tradition of gargoyles: part sculpture, part gutter system of the Middle Ages. Our dragon-inspired gargoyles were first designed as sketches based on combinations of animals, then sculpted by hand from Model Magic clay and colored with marker. A small canvas served as the base. Some even have simulated fire and smoke using a feather. Here be dragons!!!!
