2017 Egyptian Canopic Jars
Grade 7 students created these canopic jars, used in ancient Egypt to store and protect the mummy's removed organs. The jar heads depict a "god" invented by each student, and the jar bodies feature hieroglyphics and other symbols from the Egyptian art tradition. Students built their jars using Model Magic clay, and designs were added with Sharpie marker and metallic gold paint.
