2016 Acushnet Sawmill Installation Proposals
Grade 5 students used Close Reading skills to study articles and videos about the environmental installation art works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, as well as to study maps, web sites and architects' s plans of the new Acushnet Saw Mill Trail on Mill Road. Students drew 3 different proposals for art installations specifically for the Saw Mill site. They created maquettes (miniature models) of the planned art works using Model Magic clay, acrylic paints, and other materials. The final presentations included artists' statements explaining their ideas and choices of materials.
