2017-18 Grade 5 students learned about the art of cubism, which transforms real life into simplified, mostly geometric shapes. Inspired by Pablo Picasso's Three Musicians (1928), students created collages of a musician using construction paper, mulberry paper, and antique sheet music.

2017 3-D Illusions
2017-18 Grade 5 students studied the art of M.C. Escher and sidewalk artist Julian Beever to observe how they created believable 3-D illusory form on 2-D surfaces. We used a line drawing technique to create the illusion of a hand (or other objects) rising from the paper. Students chose from or invented a variety of color schemes to make their art unique!
